Flag Day Parade 2012
Ocean Shores, WA

June 9, 2012 ~ Ocean Shores honors Old Glory by holding its annual Flag Day Parade. Parade watchers line Pt Brown Ave and W. Chance a La Mer Ave to watch the presentation of our Nation's Symbol by marching bands, drill teams, politicians, companies, non-profit organizations, and local clubs and citizens. The parade began with the United States Lewis-McChord Airforce Base flag bearers. A new entrant this year was the Cossack's Motorcycle Stunt & Drill Team....that was neat to watch! They were acrobats on moving motorcycles.

There were over 40 entries, including the very patriotic Ocean Shores Yacht Club boat, the ingenious Twin Star Credit Union "Drive-In Theater" float, the Spanaway Junior High marching band, and BOOM!....the Pirate Ships...represented by both the Ocean Shores and Westport Pirates. The cutest float was a large brass bed decorated with red, white and blue blankets and a little princess girl in the covers surrounded by her stuffed bears (all pulled by a John Deere tractor). What would a classic American parade be without the classic and muscle cars?.....from the 1940's to the brand new Corvettes....these car owners revved their engines along the streets. There also was a line of Mini Coopers from the local Mini Cooper club. Towards the end of the parade, local heroes were showcased, ie the Ocean Shores Fire Department and the Grays Harbor County Fire District #7. Pictured to the left is the Ocean Shores Fire Department ladder truck. See more pictures below to get a view of this fun time.
